On 22 October, Friends of the Disabled Society (FDS) had the privilege of celebrating Deepavali in the warmest and most festive way—thanks to the amazing team at S&P Global! From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and the rich traditions of the Festival of Lights.
A Feast for the Senses
S&P Global went all out in creating a truly immersive experience for our members. The space was beautifully decorated with mala (traditional Indian flower garlands), filling the air with a sweet floral fragrance that instantly set the festive mood. And what’s Deepavali without a delicious feast? Our members were treated to an authentic North Indian spread, bursting with rich flavors that had everyone coming back for seconds!
More Than Just a Celebration

Beyond the food and decorations, the volunteers from S&P Global put together an insightful presentation on the significance of Deepavali, sharing stories of light triumphing over darkness and the importance of kindness and togetherness. To add to the excitement, they organized a fun quiz that had everyone engaged, learning, and laughing along the way.

But the highlight of the day? The Indian dance workshop! Our members got to experience the joy of movement, swaying to lively beats with the guidance of the wonderful volunteers. The energy in the room was absolutely infectious!
A Special Shoutout to Danxability!

No celebration is complete without a show-stopping performance, and our Danxability members delivered just that! Their incredible dance showcase was met with cheers and applause, proving once again that music and movement bring people together in the most magical way.
Creating Art, Creating Memories

After the festivities, S&P Global staff came together for a Deepavali-themed mosaic art workshop, led by our talented members with disabilities. This hands-on session was more than just an art activity—it was an opportunity for meaningful interaction and collaboration.
With steady hands and creative minds, the participants worked side by side, placing colorful mosaic tiles to form beautiful Deepavali-inspired designs. Guided by our members, they learned the intricate process of mosaic-making, gaining a newfound appreciation for the artistry and skill involved. The completed pieces were not only a reflection of the festival’s vibrancy but also a testament to the power of inclusion—where people of all abilities come together to create something beautiful.
Gratitude to S&P Global and 3 Degrees

We are beyond grateful to S&P Global for their generosity, warmth, and commitment to creating such a meaningful and inclusive celebration. Their volunteers didn’t just host the event—they served food, engaged with our members, and made sure everyone felt truly welcomed and appreciated.
A huge thank you as well to 3 Degrees for connecting us with S&P Global and making this beautiful collaboration possible.
This Deepavali, we were reminded that the brightest lights are not just in the lamps we light, but in the kindness and connections we share. Happy Deepavali! 🪔✨
