Last Thursday, the Friends of the Disabled Society (FDS) came alive with the vibrant spirit of Hari Raya, as members, caregivers, staff, and volunteers gathered for a truly heartwarming celebration. The event was a beautiful reminder of what community means β€” not just being together, but celebrating together.

A Celebration of Joy and Connection

The room buzzed with energy from the very beginning. Our members were welcomed with festive decorations, upbeat music, and smiling faces all around. There was a shared excitement in the air β€” the kind that only happens when people know they’re among friends.

We kicked off the event with a classic favourite: Bingo!
Laughter filled the room as numbers were called and cards were checked. For many, it wasn’t just about winning a prize β€” it was the thrill of the game and the joy of cheering each other on that made it so special.

Music, Dance, and Heritage

What’s a celebration without music? As the opening notes of Chan Mali Chan played, something magical happened β€” our members got up to dance. Some clapped along, others sang with gusto, and many joined in on the floor to sway and groove in their own ways. It was joyful, spontaneous, and uniquely FDS β€” a moment of pure connection through rhythm and tradition.

In between the fun, we took time to reflect on the significance of Hari Raya β€” a time for forgiveness, gratitude, and renewal. Members shared stories, exchanged well-wishes, and took photos to capture the memories.

Grateful for Kind Hearts

This celebration would not have been possible without the incredible support of S&P Global, whose generosity made it all come to life. From planning to execution, their contribution ensured that our members could enjoy a meaningful and inclusive Hari Raya gathering. We’re truly thankful for their continued partnership and heart for the community.

Last but not least, a Β sincere thank-you goes to Sian Chay Medical Institution, who kindly provided gifts for our members. Their thoughtful gesture added a warm touch to the event that was appreciated by all.

Selamat Hari Raya from All of Us at FDS

As we wrapped up the celebration, it was clear that the spirit of Hari Raya β€” joy, unity, and compassion β€” was shining brightly in the room. Events like this remind us that even the simplest moments can become deeply meaningful when shared with others.

To everyone who celebrates, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
May your days be filled with peace, blessings, and happiness.
